The Laurel Boys and Girls Club Basketball program consists of boys and girls ages 4 years to 18 years old. Our program teaches basic fundamentals of basketball, while participating in the Prince Georges County Boys & Girls Club league play along with other boys & girls clubs.
For the Prince Georges County League teams, ages range from 7 to 18. This program is subdivided into girl teams and boy teams. The girl teams consists of ages 10 under - 14 under. The boy teams consists of age 7 – 18. The county rules of play are governed by the Prince Georges County Boys & Girl Club Inc. The Laurel Boys and Girls intramural league consists of ages 4-6 and rules of play are governed by the Laurel Boys and Girls Club. The intramural league is coed.
The programs are expected to run from December 2013 thru March 2014. Most games will be played on Saturdays & Sunday. However, a few games are played during the week after 6pm. Both programs are open to all youths, there are no residency requirements.
AGE determination date: December 31, 2014.
Activities will commence in the following order:
Games: City of Takoma Park games will be held on Saturdays in locations in and around Takoma Park. All other teams 7th and above can play at various locations in Montgomery or Prince George’s County.
Practices: The volunteer coaches will set practices times during the weekday evenings. Generally younger groups practice once a week at Scotchtown and Laurel Elementary, Older kids practice at the Laurel Boys and Girls Club.
Equipment for players: Proper basketball shoes and shorts are required for play.
